Installer Maker
DoneEx Installer Maker is a freeware application that creates installers for you!
This application is completely free (free of charge) and is provided ‘as is’ to anyone and everyone who needs it.
Installer Maker can be downloaded on the download page. For an overview of this application’s options and features, go to the Options Overview webpage for it.
How Installer Maker Works
The application works by generating and compiling an NSIS script based on the data provided in the application. Markedly, the application’s options include—but are not limited to—file and folder management of the final install, shortcuts to the start menu and desktop, icon management, language preferences, and inclusion of a file to use as an End User License Agreement. You can even use it to distribute registration keys that you have generated for your compiled Excel workbook or compiled VBA code. However, all of this does require the NSIS development tools. As a result our tool comes with all of the necessities. Installer Maker installs them automatically if it doesn’t find them on your system. NSIS is the “Nullsoft Scriptable Install System” and it is a professional, open source script system used to create Windows Installers. You can find out more about NSIS on the NSIS Wiki.
However, NSIS scripts can get very intricate and in-depth. Which is why the Installer Maker only covers some of the more basic implementations of this system. The intention of the application is to allow for easy and streamlined creation of simple installations. If you wish to make more advanced tweaks to your installer than the tool’s interface can provide, we have a checkbox that allows you to make advanced tweaks to the generated code yourself. If you intend to do this, we highly recommend checking out the appropriate NSIS documentation and resources. Check out how to do it in the NSI script editing feature of the Options Overview of the tool.
